Argumentation #25

Knowledge is Power. Knowledge is more than one word. Knowledge is the key to unlock revolution. A revolutuion in the society that we live in. Slaves were never taught how to read or write. Slaves never were taught the ropes of life. The white man knew that as long as they keep the Slaves uninformed then they have power over them. However, once the Slaves become educated then the white man has a problem. Life and death lies the Tongue. There is power in what you say. Therefore, when Slaves learn what to say then they become powerful. John Fields, an ex-slave is right when he arues that ignorance was how the southern slave owners controlled slaves.
Slaves never knew how to read or white which didnt allow any blacks to have a say in anything. There is a reason why the white man has laws about teaching slaves how to read and write. There is a reason why you will be charged for teaching slaves how to read and write. There is a fear in the White man. A fear that trembles from the potential of the black man! Once they get knowledge in their brains then courage begans to rise. A rise of the black slave. There are many whites that try to downgrade the slaves because they know how great they might become. Once they become educated then they start taking white man jobs. Once they take the white mans job then there is an overcome spirit that begins to rise in their heart.
There are many slaves who wish to become educated for the reason to become free from the white man. Critics may say that if they really didnt want to be controlled by the white man then they would fight and run away. But if they run away what will they do after that? Nothing. They dont know anything so they wont be able to live a civilized life. Therefore they NEED education. They need to learn how to read and write so they could maintain a regular life if they run away. The whole point is that if a black slave begins to grow in knowledge then he begins to grow in the society.

Argumentation #24+ Commentary

Life is about making decision, sometimes good, sometimes bad; there is no way to avoid them. Excuses can be made for a bad choice. However, there is always a reaction to an action. You can choose your actions but you cant choose your consequences. The captain was put in a situation that most would break down and dont know what to do. He was courageous. He was like Moses in "The Bible" were he was in the desert for 40 years and was told by God that he would lead the people to the promise land. There were some that wanted to turn back or questioned Moses decisions. But he stood and made decisions that needed to be made in order for the people to achieve the promises. The captain made a decision to sacrifice some so that other may live or else they would of all died. He made the right decision and should plead "not guilty"for saving life's.
When citizens life's are in risk, people have to be careful about the choices they make. In the captains situations it was they all die or some die and some live. There isn's truly a right way to judge this situation. However, there must be a judgement for every action. There is a son that is grateful for the captains decision. There is some loved one that is getting a chance to see there lover once more! All because of the captains decisions. There is more oppourtinty for life than there was death in his decisions.
Some might argue that there are some that wont see there mom or dad again. However, you got to look at the situation there wasn't anyway there were going to see them it was going to have the same result. The captain just made something real negitive into something a little positive. In addition, the jury should rule him not guilty. He had to make a decision and made the right one. There was either bad or good and he chose to make bad into good!

Rhetoric Analysis #23 + Assertion

Many spectators in the sports of football never truly know what the players go through. While they only see the touchdown and the big hit, they never pay attention to the dedication and sacrifice players put it. Foreign Countries see the American live and wonder if that is really true. They key in on the certain aspects of America's achievement, but never see the true heart of the "American man." Mr. Douglas states that in this beautiful country there is ugly side to it as well. Slavery. The chains and shackles that wraps around the dark man. He expresses his feelings about the downfall of America.
Mr. Douglas uses many rhetorical devices in his quote but the main one that is expressed is syntax. He uses many small ideas to combine and compare to the overall theme of his assertion. There are many flaws in Americas system. Therefore, he needed to wrap them all somehow; so he uses syntax. He kept the reader interested by making a spider web style to grab many ideas and still have the reader on the same page. The Hard worker, the mistreated slave, and the hopeless servant; all bring the despicable taste in Douglas's mouth.
He was very successful in making his audience respond to his call. A call of freedom. It must have been hard to influence a white man while the color on your own skin is black. Many tried and fail. However he persisted. Passing many. Through his rhetoric language. Back to back with the president Lincoln, they both strive to end slavery; by any means necessary. The new generation of African Americans dont have to work on the fields nor serve a white man; a change in society. He changed the society of America and overcame the challendges the white man brought

Rhetoric Analysis #22 + Practice

In "The Gettysburg Address" by Abraham Lincoln he speaks to the people on the battlefield on Gettysburg. There are many rhetorical devices Abraham uses in his speech. They all were good strategies to get the people going, but there was one that made them emotional. Pathos. While he was speaking to the people, they were looking round at the rotten bodies sinking into the ground from were it came from, decaying right in front of their eyes. Fly's, bugs, and maggets eating every bit of the dead "honored" soldiers. He states "that these dead shall not have died in vain" which proclaims to the nation that they will win the war for the dead soldiers. As for me, i know were he is coming from and how the people were so stirred to fight till the end. My mother past away four years ago and every day I think of making her proud, for that everything she instilled in my life will also not go in vain!

Idea Analysis #21 + Commenttary

Gothic's dwell on Shame, anger, and Sadness, etc. The title itself gives us a suggestion that the Darken Veil, where they hind there face by darkness. Nathaniel Hawthorne uses many words that have a sad/negetive mood on the poem. Words like "unborn, grief, lonely, endless gloom" give us the theory that his inward experience is a shame and sadness. There are many poets that expand on the same idea hawthorne does. The way Gothics write his they take extreme experience to show true self. What Expierence? He states that "Before my view" which means when he looks out in the world in front of him. Then he could see his path in front of him. All of his achievements and happiness. However, soon to come to realize the experience of poverty! Its there in that moment where he feels grief. Then all of that leads to his extreme experience of lonely. "Endless Gloom" Something that wont end but is an continuous cycle

IdEa AnAlYsIs #20 + Commentary

The world is full of idea's from people that try to convince us that their philosophies. Since the day of birth, society tells us how to expirence life instead of letting us go on our own. Many times since we our idea's doesnt match up to the worlds, society like to tell us we are wrong. In society, there is only one way, there way. In society, if you go down the wrong way, your a failure. In society, if you dont have an education, then you will be poor. But lets take a moment to see what is "poor". The poorest man is not the one without a penny, the poorest man is the one without a dream.
In america we find people that there dreams are ruin, so they go around trying to mend other dreams. Society tells us that we cant achieve our dreams without an education. We need to not listen to the world and what they are saying but through life expirences find knowledge. We must chase our dreams and go after it, no matter what anybody says or does to us. We must not conform to the world. Martin Luther king Jr stated "Most people die at the age of 25 and aren't burried until 70". We must chase our dreams and never give up, no mater what society tells us.

Idea Analysis 19+ Commentary

The poem "A Noiseless Patient Spider"by Walt whitman he expresses his imagination about a spider that is patient and making a web. He compares that to himself in his own inner soul. This all ties into the spider and himself to be a transcendentalist. He relates the spider to self relience and he always says me and i; there is no plural. He uses two of the five ids of the romantic belief.
The first I that he uses is that he uses Individualty where he expresses the spider by it self with no one around him. He states that the spider is isolated and not polluted by what people think and say. The other I that he uses is Imagination. He explained the actions of of the spider and explores the mind of himself. He explained saying ceaselessly musing, venturing , and throwing. He uses alot of his imagination
